Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilledExperienced Business Analyst with a strong background in eliciting requirements through customer interviews and translating them into clear, well-structured system requirements. Skilled in SDLC methodologies, business process re-engineering, and improving software workflows. Proficient in developing user stories, use cases, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using Figma, while ensuring designs meet UX best practices and federal accessibility standards. Demonstrates excellent communication, facilitation, writing, and organizational skills. Experienced with tools such as Modern Requirements and Atlassian Jira, and has a proven track record working with TEA and other state or local education agencies, with focused expertise in early childhood care and education.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May perform any or all of the following)
- Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops to elicit, analyze, and document clear and actionable business and system requirements that align with project goals.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications, including user stories and use cases that conform to industry-standard business analysis practices.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using tools like Figma, ensuring alignment with user experience best practices and federal accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG).
- Analyze and re-engineer existing business processes to identify areas of improvement and efficiency, supporting the optimization of software workflows and overall performance.
- Participate actively in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) by providing continuous support and clarification on requirements, and validating deliverables against stakeholder expectations.
- Ensure traceability and proper management of requirements using tools like Modern Requirements, maintaining version control and alignment with project objectives throughout the development lifecycle.
- Track and manage project issues, bugs, and enhancements using Atlassian Jira, collaborating closely with development and QA teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including requirement specifications, process flows, meeting notes, and design assets, contributing to knowledge management and project transparency.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring consistent communication, requirement alignment, and successful delivery of solutions.
- Provide domain expertise and insights into early childhood care and education systems, especially within the context of working with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) or other state/local education entities.
Required Qualifications: - 8 years of required Experience eliciting requirements from interviews with customers and creating well-written system requirements
- 8 years of required Experience with software development life cycles (SDLCs)
- 8 years of required Business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement experience
- 8 years of required Experience developing user stories and use cases that conform to business analysis best practices
- 8 years of required Experience designing mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices
- 5 years of required Demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills
- 5 years of required Demonstrated strong writing and organization skills
- 4 years of required Documented experience developing wireframes, mockups, & prototypes in Figma or comparable design software
- 3 years of required Experience ensuring designs and website conform to federal accessibility guidelines
- 3 years of preferred Documented work experience with the requirements management software "Modern Requirements"
- 3 years of preferred Documented work experience with the issue tracking software "Atlassian Jira"
- 2 years of preferred Documented experience working for or closely with TEA or another state or local education agency
- 1 years of preferred Documented work experience in early childhood care and education
